This page is written in honor of a very dear friend of mine, Dottie Gehrke, who talked me into climbing all of the 3,982,781,802 steps (give or take a few) to the top of the St. Simons Island lighthouse. THEN she wanted to take pictures! I don't think so. Not from that height. I calmly (and very bravely) walked back inside the lighthouse and hugged the walls until she finished her pictures. Then, we huffed and puffed back down the 3,982,781,802 steps to the bottom. DEAD to the world. But such fun--and what an experience!
