The NASCAR Racing Season Opens in February
By Robin Nobles (2/6/98)
On February 15, men from all over the country will be glued to their TV screens to watch the start of the 40th annual Daytona 500, the most prestigious event of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series.
Let's start at NASCAR Online, the official site of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. Learn all about the Winston Cup Series, the Busch Series Grand National Division, and the Craftsman Truck Series. This impressive site features news, standings, tracks, schedules, and even multimedia clips.
According to Daytona USA, the 1998 Daytona 500 awards will shatter previous NASCAR Winston Cup records for posted awards to a single event--a whopping $7 million. A guaranteed $1 million will go to the 1998 Daytona 500 champion. Whoa! Read recent headlines, learn track specifications, or learn the complete history the Daytona International Speedway at this fascinating site.
The Silly Season is traditionally the last half of the racing season when drivers, crew chiefs, and sponsors change teams. Since the Silly Season has practically expanded into a year-long event, Jayski's Silly Season Page provides a central location for Winston Cup fans to get the latest dirt.
At The NASCAR Winston Cup Gallery, you'll find pictures of your favorite Winston Cup drivers and their cars as well as fan club information. When the season starts, you'll be able to learn qualifying results, race results, and point standings at this site. If you're a racing fan, you may want to stop by the chat room or leave a message on their message board.
Besides racing news, the News Tracker Auto Racing News site also offers links to auto racing, NASCAR, Indy Car, and even Kart Racing sites.
Another excellent site for auto racing is iRace, which offers virtual racing games such as iRace Grand Prix or uRace. Besides fun and games, the site features news, views, and even an extensive racing store.
Spyder's NASCAR Simulator Links Page offers link after link of . . . yep, racing simulator pages.
If you're a Formula One racing fan, stop by Technical Formula 1 for articles, news, and even a Formula 1 Newsletter you can receive by e-mail.
RacingPR offers the latest and greatest information on Formula One, Indy car, NASCAR, Sprints, or NHRA drag racing.
Another excellent Formula One racing site is Formula One Art & Genius.
Visit The Flat Track Page for flat track motorcycle racing information and links. You'll find schedules and links to tracks across the U.S. as well as photos, a chat room, and current news.
Monster mud truck racing? Why not? At TruckWorld Online, you'll learn all about monster trucks, including races, shows and events, and even "how to" technical information.
