Learn about the Latest Movies on the Internet
By Robin Nobles (7/31/98)
With the kids out of school, the summer is a good time to go to the movies. Did you know that you can learn all about the latest movies, the stars, the ratings, and much more on the Internet?
An excellent place to start is Boxoffice Online. Read reviews of the new movies that are out this week, or learn what movies will be released soon. Discover what the top ten movies are as well as their North American gross in millions. Are you interested in learning what films are in the works right now? Visit this site to find out.
Another excellent site for movie lovers is Microsoft Cinemania, where you're not only able to read reviews and learn how the film is rated, but you're also able to click on the stars' names to learn more about them. One thing I particularly like about the site is that you can learn why a film is rated what it is. For example, "THE MASK OF ZORRO" is rated PG-13 "for some intense action and violence." This information is particularly helpful to parents who are trying to decide if a movie is suitable for their children.
Are you interested in who the 100 most influential people are in the history of movies? At The Film 100, you'll discover that number 1 on the list is William Kennedy Laurie Dickson, an English engineer who searched the entire world for devices that claimed to make photographs move. He devised a crude camera in November of 1890 and filmed his first trial film.
CineMedia boasts as being the largest film and media directory on the Internet, and with over 18,000 links, they're probably right. Browse categories such as Actors, Directors, Cinema, TV, Shows, and much more.
To learn the addresses of your favorite stars, visit Celebrity Addresses. At this site, you'll find the addresses for the Backstreet Boys, Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Toni Braxton, and much more.
For a site that offers a movie or video guide, movies on TV, Hollywood news, or information on movie people, visit Hollywood Online. Click on ShowTimes to find out when and where your favorite movies are playing. Read celebrity interviews, listen to movie soundtracks, or visit the Press Room for celebrity photos. You can even visit the Buzz Forums to discuss your favorite movies or stars with others.
The Internet Movie Database is a database of over 150,000 movies! Need I say more?
