Did you know that the first football ever used was round? And that football originated from the game of rugby in the early 1800's in England? American students played a similar game, ballown, and used their fists and feet to move the ball. Times haven't changed that much, have they?

Join me in a tour of the Net to see what we can find about the ever-popular sport of football.

You've got to be kidding! 2239 links to football sites? That's what they claim at Totally Football Links, which features football handicapping, flag football resources, and links to stadiums, youth football, and semi-pro teams.

Another "must see" site is Dick Butkus Football Network, where you'll find NFL predictions, team profiles, pre-season NCAA top 25 poll, national high school top 25 poll, and outstanding high school prospects.

At USA Football Center Online, you can view NFL or college standings, schedules, or player statistics. The site contains categories such as Week in Review, Playoff Schedule, and Scoreboard.

For information on virtually any sport, visit American Sports Headquarters. Football listings include Arena Football, the Canadian Football League, American Football, Australian Football, the NFL, and the World League of American Football.

Here's a wonderful site: The Locker Room . . . Sports for Kids. Click on the football and you'll find categories such as the History of Football, Rules of the Game, Fun Facts, and more. The site features warm up exercises and help with team problems.

ESPN SportsZone: NFL provides an excellent source of material for pro football. Chat with fellow enthusiasts, learn of injuries, and look up scores, schedules, or statistics. Or, read the latest football news and articles.
