Happy Father's Day

By Robin Nobles (6/13/97)

In honor of our fathers, let's look for sites specifically for dads. Did you know that the first Father's Day celebration was held in Spokane, Washingtn on June 19, 1910?

Let's start at ZIA Father's Day Home Page, where you'll learn the history of Father's Day or get ideas for crafts, recipes, or things to do with your father. You can even send your dad an E-Tie for the occasion!

A wonderful resource for fathers is Dadsites of the Month. The month of June features the following sites: ParentTime, Homeschooling, Jewish Family & Life, and Blended Family Resource Guide.

Another fabulous site for fathers is Fathering Magazine, where you can read articles about fathering, news headlines, or fiction, chat with other fathers, or learn of job opportunities.

What man wouldn't enjoy the United States Power Squadrons page? The site features sail and power boating and information about the USPS, the largest national boating organization in the world. You can also take a boating quiz or learn about the USPS Basic Boating Course.

The Electric Car!! This site is all about EV1, General Motors' electric car that you can charge indoors (INDOORS?) or out, wherever there's a 110-volt outlet. (not in MY house!)

Most dads love to tinker by nature, so at the Popular Mechanics Zone, they can find categories such as electronics, home improvement, and automotive. This is a state-of-the-art site that's truly amazing.

TV

At America's Sports Headquarters, you'll find information about any sport you can imagine, with chat rooms, merchandise sections, fantasy sports, teams, and schedules.

Vets.com is the Internet guide for veterans, military, and their families. The site features free ads for reunions and lost friends, military and veterans' news, forms you need to get copies of your records, veterans employment opportunities, plus much more.

How about reading the news on the Net? USA Today features news, sports, weather, politics, money, travel, and more.

June 9-15 is National Men's Health Week, and Men's Fitness Online offers hints for training and fitness, good health, nutrition, and even sports gear.

Next week, we'll search for sites that offer helpful hints of all kinds. See you then.
